Cluck! Cluck! ...Just kidding, I speak English! I am the Chicken Car, welcome to my page! I am a '93 Ford Mustang. I have become an icon of my hometown, Dixon, IL. My best friend is my owner and driver, Patrick Taylor. We've been friends since April of 2010. Our mission is to make as many people as possible happy.
Together, we have been on many adventures! I have been a part of many parades and events in Dixon. One of our more memorable adventures was when we met Mumford & Sons. In the Summer of 2012, they came to Dixon on their Gentlemen of the Road Tour and we went cruising together through the town. I loved getting to meet all the guys; Marcus, Ben, Ted, and Winston. We had so much fun, Mumford's my band! Right before the Mumford & Sons concert, Patrick and I decided to go on an entrepreneurial adventure. We created a clothing line! Go to the "Hen House Store" tab and check it out! The next year in 2013 we went on tour with Mumford & Sons to Troy, Ohio and Guthrie, Oklahoma. Meanwhile, we began our career in reality television on the A&E network's "Shipping Wars". I was shipped to the Mumford & Sons concerts by Jarrett Joyce, the rookie shipper. He is an awesome guy!
After these exciting adventures, we decided to go to college! In August of 2013 we joined the University of Illinois campus in Champaign, IL. On the weekends, I go to fun events with Patrick. We have been to Oglesby, IL for Oglesby Summer Fun Fest, car shows hosted by LaSalle County Cruisers, New Lenox, IL for prom, Chilicothe, IL for Summer Camp Music Festival, and many more. During the school week, the adventures continue, Patrick and I were a part of the Bud Light #UpForWhatever campaign on campus. We cruised around campus with the local Bud Light girls and one lucky winner, it was a lot of fun!
Most students enjoy my presence on campus, but some disrespect me. During October of 2014, a few students decided to steal my eyes while I was sleeping. A few days later, another decided to break one of my windows. A week after that, a group of students took a saw and cut off my tail. Patrick was offering a $250 reward for information that lead to full restitution of the tail, but lost hope after several months of looking and after receiving a letter from the Champaign Police Department stating they were no longer looking into the case. These were very traumatic events for me. I think I have had to endure these hardships to help me appreciate all the great things that happen to me. All of my friends and fans have been incredibly supportive through all of this.
In July of 2015 Patrick was able to locate a new tail and saved up enough money to purchase it and get it installed. After nearly 10 months, I was finally back to feeling like myself again! To celebrate, Patrick and I followed Mumford and Son's around the country during the Gentlemen of the Road Tour 2015. The first stopover was in Waverly, Iowa and the second stopover was in Salida, Colorado. I love Mumford and Sons.
In November of 2015, Patrick and two of his friends worked together to create this really cool project. It was called the Mental Illness Awareness Tour. It was a philanthropic 48 state road trip featuring yours truly! The goal of the project was to diminish the stigma surrounding mental illness. They planned to achieve that by hosting nearly 40 events nationwide where they shared their personal experiences with mental illness. They worked very hard to raise enough money and plan this HUGE undertaking.
In May of 2016, we kicked off the road trip in Champaign, IL and headed east. Throughout this 75 day tour across this beautiful country I met many incredible people. It was the trip of a lifetime! The road trip concluded July 31st, 2016 in Dixon, IL. Together we raised $22,000 to fund the trip and were able to make a donation to the National Alliance on Mental Illness(NAMI), who endorsed the project early on.
